Your password protects access to your account settings and backup processes.
Do:
Choose a password with a mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols.
Use at least 12 characters
Make your password unique (not reused on other sites)
Don’t:
Use personal details like your birthday or name
Reuse passwords from your email or social media
Save your password in plain text on your computer or phone
Your PIN is used to sign every important action in your CHEQs account.
Do:
Choose a memorable but non-obvious 8-14 digit number
Memorize it or store it using a secure password manager
Don’t:
Use simple patterns like 1234, 1111, or your birth year
Share your PIN with anyone, even support staff
Write it on a sticky note or store it in your phone’s notes app
Your Account Card (blue) and Emergency Card (red) are critical for accessing or recovering your account. If lost, you may be permanently locked out.
Do:
Store these files offline (e.g., on an encrypted USB drive)
Keep separate physical copies in different secure locations (e.g., home safe, locked cabinet)
Label them clearly but discreetly
Don’t:
Upload them to cloud storage services without encryption
Keep them on a shared computer
Store both files together without additional security
Email or message them to yourself
Your Emergency Password is required to reset your PIN using the red Emergency Card.
Do:
Memorize it or save it in a trusted encrypted password manager
Choose a password that is long, random, and unrelated to your regular passwords
Don’t:
Share it via email or messaging apps
Write it down next to your backup cards
Use short or guessable passwords like “password123”
Examples of risky behaviors to avoid:
Taking screenshots of your backup cards and storing them in your phone gallery
Printing your backup cards and leaving them on your desk
Using the same PIN for CHEQs as you do for your phone or debit card
Skipping the emergency setup thinking “I’ll do it later”
Periodically verify that your backup files are accessible and intact
Update your PIN regularly (e.g., every 6 months) using your Emergency Card
Review your security setup if you change devices, move locations, or experience a possible compromise
