Unlike traditional crypto wallets that rely on seed phrases, CHEQs uses a PIN-based system to simplify security without compromising on safety. The PIN code acts as your personal authorization tool, similar to how a bank card works, but takes security a step further by using your PIN Code along with other data to make Accounts on CHEQs very secure.
You will be prompted to create your PIN during the account setup process, immediately after choosing your unique @handle.
To ensure security, your PIN must meet the following criteria:
Be 8 to 14 digits long
Avoid repeating or easily guessable patterns (e.g., 1111, 1234)
Be memorized or stored securely—you will need it frequently
Your PIN will be required for actions such as:
Sending or requesting CHEQs
Approving settings changes
Accessing sensitive account information
Never share your PIN with anyone, including CHEQs support staff. CHEQs team members will never ask you for your PIN Code.
Use a number combination that is unique and not reused on other platforms. Don’t use your birthday or your bank PIN
If you suspect your PIN has been compromised, change it immediately via the settings menu (you will need your Emergency Password or Backup Files to do this).
If you forget your PIN, you can reset it using your Emergency Password or Backup Files. You will need to completing the backup during registration to ensure you can always recover access.
You can always reach out to the support team if you need any help. Click on the “Help & Support” widget (the rectangular button on the right of your screen).
